Still no funiculars, and so we start, once more, with the alternatives to using funiculars.
Don’t slog up those hills just because the funiculars have been suspended.
Minibus 51E gives an alternative to the Santa Justa lift, and an alternative to the Glória funicular;
Bairrobus 19B gives an alternative to the Lavra funicular;
Bairrobus 22B gives an alternative to the Bica funicular.

PASTEL DE NATA NEWS
Pastelaria Aloma has won best Pastel de Nata for the third year running. The opposition included Castro, but it’s worth pointing out that all contenders were not sampled straight from the oven and warm.
TAXI AND TVDE NEWS
TVDE can now include taxis. Uber and Bolt opposed this change, but it makes the playing field a little more level. So your ride may turn out to be a taxi.
ALSO Taxis are now offering a fixed fare from the Airport to central Lisbon, following a series of complaints and revelations concerning less than totally ethical behaviour by some drivers.
TUK-TUK NEWS
A Tuk-Tuk went out of control recently on Travessa de São Vicente in Graça. One person was seriously injured as a result.
The Lisbon Userguide continues to err on the side of caution and recommends not using Tuk-Tuks, or similar vehicles, that are hired on the spot. If you must use one, book beforehand with a known and knowledgeable driver.
MAAT NEWS
MAAT (Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology) is celebrating its tenth anniversary. Admission is free on the 4th and 5th of October.
ORIENTE NEWS
The accessibility level of Gare Oriente continues to veer from bad to downright grim. HOWEVER. The south side street level to station concourse up escalator was working last weekend, and the west side lift that covers Level 0, Level 1 (street level) and station concourse level may be operated, providing you can find a suitably authorised person.
Because without a key holder, it won’t work. For all other lifts, and rather a lot of escalators, assume they are broken, to avoid disappointment.
CRAFT BEER NEWS
Oitava Colina is offering a new brew called Onze. This is a collaboration with Spanish microbrewery Garage and is a West Coast Pilsner.
AMO Brewery has a new spiced pumpkin beer on offer.
And don’t forget that The Beer Station is back with us (HERE).
