Enter the complex via the east side, on Rua Carlos Alberto da Mota Pinto. The information desk will direct you, and also sells tickets.


More than 200 shops, 50 food outlets, and seven cinema screens. With a viewpoint on the roof. The Amoreiras shopping centre sits on top of one of Lisbon’s hills, and has an express lift (elevator for those Stateside) almost to the top. There are some steps from the lift to the viewing platform.

And on that viewing platform, there are, Python fans … comfy chairs! Each side of the platform has a panorama with all visible landmarks identified for you. There is, in addition, a procession of aircraft passing almost overhead on approach to the airport, or departing from it, depending on the wind direction.

There is a staff member on duty at all times. The viewing platform stays open into the evening, as does the shopping centre below. So you can follow your visit with retail therapy, snack breaks or sit-down meals.

Buses 65B, 711, 713, 723, 748, 753, 758, 771, 774 and 783 outside. Tram 24 stops nearby.

6.2 Craft Beer Bars

The craft beer revolution began to wash over Lisbon around a decade ago. Some outlets have, in the meantime, come and gone, but the scene is a good one for locals and visitors alike. You can get decent beer in The Great City - here are outlets I know about and have visited recently. Follow the links! Most outlets keep to their advertised opening hours.
